Leather Lingerie Such As the Corset

For centuries the corset has been a part of a ladies lingerie closet, its popularity, and purpose varied over time, but it originally was used to give shape to the shapeless. It's an undergarment that has laces and bones in order to reshape a woman's upper body. The bones were in the sides and the laces were used to pull it tight. During the early years, women mainly used the corset, but at times man used them as well to pull their tummy in, or give themselves waists. The corset would immediately pull in a loose tummy and form a waist of at least 2 to 3 inches smaller than normal, giving a desirable hourglass shape.

Other uses of the corset were as a permanent waist reducer and worn long enough, the waist could be reduced 2-3 inches permanently. It was also used to carry the weight of the bust, and at times when dresses were heavy were attached directly to the corset. This alleviated a lot of weight to shoulders, and reduced back pain as well.

In modern times, the lingerie closet might include a corset or two, but they were not mandatory as underwear. In fact in the late 19th century they became a piece of fashion wear and were worn alone. While in olden times, the corset would lace up the back with minimum lacing on the front, modern times brought it back the other way around. The lacing for adjustment was on the back according to the size of the lady who was wearing it, but it was tightened from the front so she could do it herself.

Corsets worn today are made to either wear on the outside alone, or as a decorative piece of lingerie on the inside. They can include full bustiers or can incorporate a type of lingerie teddy fastening between the legs. Corsets are made of a variety of materials including Lycra, nylon, satin, and often have ribbons, lace, or even jewels attached. Considered a statement in fashion, most corsets of the day are used for alluring or risqué looks.

Although you can purchase ready-made corsets in lingerie stores, or even in fashion tops stores, if you'd like to revert to the old-fashioned wastes thinning corset you'll have to have it handmade. It's important should you choose to have a handmade corset made to give you an hourglass figure, that it's made appropriately, otherwise it is too tight and you can actually damage your internal organs. Through the centuries the corset was a mainstay piece of underwear and is now considered a fashion statement or a piece of bedroom lingerie
